A controversial biblical scholar is preparing to officially present his theory that Jesus was invented by the Roman Empire as a form of "psychological warfare" to control its subjects. Joseph Atwill suggests that the entire New Testament was actually written by a group of Roman aristocrats in the hopes that their idea of a "peaceful Messiah" could be used to guide the behaviors of the population. "Christianity may be considered a religion, but it was actually developed and used as a system of mind control to produce slaves that believed God decreed their slavery," Atwill wrote on his website. He'll make his full presentation at the "Covert Messiah" conference in London on Oct. 19.  MSN
