FALMOUTH – An East Falmouth man faces a litany of criminal charges after allegedly abusing a woman over several days, forcing her to perform a sex act on a dog, whipping her with a belt and repeatedly injecting her with heroin.

Justin Mustafa, 24, pleaded not guilty today in Falmouth District Court to charges of assault and battery, assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a belt), bestiality, intimidating a witness, five counts of assault and battery with a hypodermic needle and malicious destruction of property valued at less than $250.

According to the Falmouth Police Department report, the incidents leading to the charges occurred between June 28 and July 4 in Falmouth and off Interstate 495 around Carver and were triggered by Mustafa’s belief that the woman had been unfaithful to him while he was in prison. In that time frame, Mustafa assaulted the woman several times, once with his belt; choked her; threw her cellphone out of a moving vehicle; and injected her with heroin against her will, the report says.

On July 1, after an argument in which he threatened to kill her, Mustafa forced the woman to perform a sex act on his dog, the report says. He filmed the incident with his cellphone and threatened to blackmail her with the recording if she told anyone about it, the report says.

The woman came to the Falmouth police station July 5 and said it was the first time she had been able to get away from Mustafa in a week.

This is not the first time Mustafa has been accused of a sex-related crime. In 2011, Mustafa set up a video camera in a closet and filmed himself and his girlfriend having sex without her consent.

Mustafa pleaded guilty to one count of photographing an unsuspecting nude person. He was sentenced in 2012 to two years in the Barnstable County Correctional Facility with one year to serve and will remain on probation through 2014. Charges of distributing obscene material and intimidating a witness were dismissed in the plea deal.

A hearing is scheduled for July 15 in Falmouth District Court to determine whether Mustafa is a danger to the community and should therefore remain in custody. He is being held without bail at the county correctional facility.  CapeCodOnline
