“Most of my friends [dress] like this,” said Brielle*, a worker in the Near East, as she wrapped a colorful scarf around her head. As soon as the women get together by themselves, though, the scarves come from their heads to their waists, and they dance—swinging hips, waving arms, laughing together.

“It’s fun just to be out there meeting these girls,” Brielle said.

Brielle constantly prays for opportunities to tell her friends about Jesus. One of her friends, Taline*, told Brielle about a dream where Jesus had appeared to her.

“After that, she wanted to know more about the Bible,” Brielle said. “I was going to have coffee with her. I was ready. I was scared. [I was praying,] ‘Lord, what can I share with her? How can I answer her questions about the Bible?’”

Excited to show Taline the truth of God’s Word, Brielle met her for coffee.

“Do you know what she wanted to talk about? Boys!” Brielle recalls.

So, they talked about boys. In fact, as the two women continued meeting, they kept talking, until, eventually, the conversation switched to the Bible.

“We got to get into the Word, and I got to pray with her and answer questions she had,” Brielle said.

Brielle wanted to introduce Taline to another friend, who is from a Muslim background and is a follower of Jesus. After several months, the plan came together. But the night before the meeting, Taline decided to cancel. She was scared the meeting was a bad idea.

God had other plans, though, Brielle explained: “[That night], God [spoke to Taline] in a dream again and said, ‘If you want to know more about Me, you’ll go to this meeting tomorrow.’”

When Taline woke up, she got ready and went to meet Brielle and the Muslim-background believer at a nearby restaurant. In fact, she was early—and Taline is never early for anything, Brielle said, laughing.

“It was beautiful. God was working in her life,” Brielle said. At the meeting, “She heard about Adam and Eve all the way through the prophets, up to Jesus and understood [the message of salvation].”

“Now,” Taline said. “Now I understand how Jesus is God.”

Today, Taline is a sister in Christ.

“Church planting in [the Near East] isn’t about a building,” Brielle said. “It’s about sharing Jesus with people, and them coming to believe and then telling their friends, getting together and reading the Word.”

Pray for Taline and other Muslim-background believers to stay close to Christ in their journey with Him, despite opposition from family members. Pray that Jesus will continue to appear to Muslims in dreams, and that they would seek answers to their questions about the Bible. Charisma
