9 Killed, 103 Others Injured During All Saints, All Souls Day Feasts in the Philippines

Philippines Moderate // Miscellaneous accident
MANILA -- The Philippine government reported on Monday that nine people were killed and 103 were injured in several accidents during the commemoration of All Saints and All Souls Day. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the fatalities and injuries were caused by six incidents of fire, 12 road accidents, drowning, and robbery. Seven out of the nine victims were killed in vehicular accidents while the two others drowned. The agency's executive director Benito Ramos stated that the number of injured victims soared because of a road mishap which took place on November 4 in the province of Misamis Oriental. The agency said the driver of a Balingon Liner bus lost control of the vehicle and eventually crashed into a tree in Jampason village in Jasaan at about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Fifty-eight passengers suffered injuries in the accident. They were initially transported to Jasaan Community Hospital and were later moved to other medical facilities in southern Philippines. ubAlert
